IT Infrastructure Management and Maintenance Systems

The implementation of any IT systems marks the beginning of work on its proper management and effective maintenance of its operation. The correct selection of systems coupled with the procedures and services guarantee effective and efficient management and maintenance as well as cost-effectiveness. The systems serving these purposes have to be carefully selected and accompanied with appropriate policy and services in order to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Network Element Management

A system of programs, software and tools, together with professional services and dedicated procedures, enabling the identification of hardware operating in a computer network and their management. The system makes use of various network protocols - most frequently the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). The system allows to measure and monitor the status of the hardware network elements and the connections between them. Based on the critical values of the measured parameters set by the network administrator, it is possible to set the threshold values which, when exceeded, prompt the management system to generate emergency alarms or to ensure that appropriate automatic response, as pre-defined by the administrator is undertaken by the management system. Network management at the level of elements also enables the gathering and processing of information about hardware models and configurations, their equipment, the system software version installed and its configuration. Changes in the hardware configuration and the software version are also possible.

Network Service Management

A system based on specialized software, tools, services and procedures, enabling the monitoring of network operation and its parameters in order to determine the Service-Level Agreements (SLA) that is the standard to which a given pre-defined service is provided. Service management is based on a number of technologies and protocols making it possible to measure the band occupied, latency time, volume and changes in response delays (jitter), traffic type, traffic flow routes, etc. Management systems at the level of services enable remote network configuration to achieve the service parameters pre-set by the administrator. This mechanism uses inter alia the Quality-of-Service (QoS) and traffic shaping techniques depending on the type of traffic, client, traffic direction, and temporary capacity of the administered network.

System and Application Management

A system which comprises specialized software with dedicated program agents and procedures defining the scope and field of action, intended for operational management (monitoring, detection and elimination of irregularities) in a dispersed heterogeneous environment of systems and applications.

Directory Services (LDAP)

A system defining a secure method of storing and making directory data available, based on a simple, open and scalable Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). The high standard of the security elements applied enables close cooperation between the directory service system and other critical systems such as firewalls or the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The shared directory service system enables integration and cooperation between systems in the area of the exchange of directory data (from different producers with the LDAP standard between the products from different vendors supporting the LDAP standard); easy and transparent access to network resources; access to names; IP addresses of network stations; shared use of users' e-mail address base; and storage of users' certificates within the PKI system.

Project Management

A system based on a specific organizational structure, professional services and procedures, dedicated to manage various project-type processes. Activities are coordinated on the basis of a pre-determined selected supervision methodology served by organizational structures of teams engaged and patterns of conduct relevant to the work to be carried out.
