SOLIDEX has developed network for KPSI
20.02.2004
Włocławek, 17 February 2004 - Kujawsko-Pomorska Information Network (KPSI) has connected, through wireless Internet access, the town of Włocławek with the Metropolitan Computer Network node in Toruń. The solution, based on a KPSI concept, was designed and developed by SOLIDEX, a Polish IT system integrator. The project was carried out in line with the standards required under the procedures of applying for EU assistance funds and financed in part by the Marshall Office of Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship, with funds from the voivodship contract. The connection provides Internet access to administrative, public and educational institutions.
"The KPSI project is a model example of how a network can be developed without constructing a costly cable infrastructure in a city. At the same time, the project's universal nature offers the potential of using it to develop IT networks for other small towns and villages. Owing to the co-operation with SOLIDEX we managed to overcome difficulties involved in the implementation of such a complex project over such a short period of time. The efforts of KPSI specialists combined with SOLIDEX's experience has yielded good results, of which I am certain", said Krystyna Nowak, Managing Director of Kujawsko-Pomorska Information Network.
The Kujawsko-Pomorska Information Network is Poland's first IT project of regional nature, created upon the initiative of the Marshall Office. It was financed in half with funds from the voivodship contract provided for that purpose by the authorities of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship. The network connecting Włocławek with the node of the Metropolitan Computer Network in Toruń provides public local government and educational institutions with wireless access to the Internet. These institutions include hospitals, the state college (Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa), the Fire Service, the voivodship centre for land surveying and cartographic documentation (Wojewódzki Ośrodek Dokumentacji Geodezyjnej i Kartograficznej) and other public administration offices.
"I am glad that SOLIDEX could participate in such a project, still quite exceptional in Poland. I hope that the KPSI operations will yield a lot of benefits to the region since it is beyond doubt that broadband internet access offered to public administration, the possibility to provide administrative services electronically, and the application of IT technologies becoming common is something that Polish regions need", said Zbigniew Skotniczny, President of SOLIDEX S.A.
