After the 3rd Congress of Polish IT Sector - a Report

On 24 October 2003, in the rooms of the Warsaw University Library, a presentation was made of the Report summarising the 3rd Congress of Polish IT Sector held at the beginning of June in Poznań.
 
The document, entitled "Polish IT Sector in the European Union", is largely devoted to the Polish ICT market, its characteristics, opportunities it faces and barriers that limit its development. The causes for the unfavourable situation on the domestic ICT listed by the authors of the document include the spread of unethical practices. The problem of ethics in business was raised during the congress by the President of SOLIDEX, Mr. Zbigniew Skotniczny, and was among the subjects of lively discussions both during plenary sessions and in informal talks.
 
The authors of the report also dwell extensively on education and its impact on the quality of the Polish ICT market, legislative issues and the internet as an information channel which the greatest potential to develop and influence the public opinion.
