Hitachi Data Systems and SOLIDEX S.A. enter into a partnership agreement

Hitachi Data Systems, the fastest-growing worldwide manufacturer of enterprise storage systems, and SOLIDEX S.A. have signed a partnership agreement. Under the agreement, SOLIDEX will include Hitachi disk systems in its offer and will use them in its projects.
According to Rupert Grafendorfer, Director Business Operations, Central and Eastern Europe, Hitachi Data Systems: "SOLIDEX is one of leading Polish integrators of IT systems. Its solid market position, as well as a significant number of projects deployed by the company, open a chance for HDS products to reach a very large group of customers. SOLIDEX has highly-qualified engineers and solid experience gathered during execution of many projects, which guarantees that its solutions based on HDS systems will be deployed successfully".
By offering Hitachi storage systems, SOLIDEX will extend its portfolio of storage products and services designed for mission-critical applications, in particular for disaster recovery solutions which require continuous data replication, as well as solutions for disk resource consolidation and data archiving in large organizations. "When starting our talks with Hitachi, we put particular attention to the offered technologies for enterprise and midrange systems. The most important factors we took into consideration were reliability, scalability, performance, and innovativeness of the solutions", said Zbigniew Skotniczny, president, SOLIDEX S.A.
Until now, SOLIDEX solutions have been successfully deployed for more than 700 customers representing the largest organizations in all economy sectors, including the largest banks, telecommunication operators, and government agencies. "SOLIDEX puts a lot of emphasis on developing a sales strategy for storage devices by investing in people, marketing, and technology. That is why this company perfectly matches our collaborative business model", added Rupert Grafendorfer.
Hitachi Data Systems provides state-of-the-art storage systems which feature very large capacity, switched internal architecture, and virtual storage ports making it possible to get the best return on investment. Other benefits of those solutions include flexibility and the possibility to operate in all heterogeneous computing environments.
According to the most recent Gartner analyst report, Hitachi Data Systems achieved in 2002 the highest growth on the market of storage system management software. The growth rate was as high as 77%. Hitachi's global revenues from storage device sales in the financial year 2002 (ending in March 2003) were USD 2.249 billion, giving a growth rate of 8% to the previous year. Despite the difficult situation on the market, Hitachi expects to increase its sales in FY03 (ending March 2004) up to USD 2.5 billion.
Over the past 5 years SOLIDEX has been one of the most dynamically developing companies in the IT sector in Poland. The revenues of SOLIDEX S.A. in the 2001/02 business year reached almost PLN 200 milion, and its net profit was PLN 19.3 milion. In the report published in July 2002, "TELEIFNO 500 Polish IT Market 2001", SOLIDEX was classified its leading position in the market of integrators going up to 4-th place among 100 Biggest Integrator Companies in Poland.
